What we do
At the Justice Access Centre, we can help assess what you need, provide information about your legal and related issues, and refer you to the services available for your situation:
If you need a lawyer to take your case, we'll let you know about the services available and if you qualify for free legal representation. We also have services that are specifically for helping Aboriginal people with their legal issues.
There is a whole team at the centre ready to help you with family and civil justice issues. We do not deal with criminal matters, small claims court forms and filings, or corporate or commercial matters. We also do not deal with certain other issues including personal injury, traffic tickets, defamation, and medical malpractice.
Depending on your situation, you may speak with a legal information resource person, a family justice counsellor, a paralegal, a lawyer, a child support officer, an Aboriginal community legal worker, a legal aid intake worker, or a representative from a community agency.
Some services at the centre are available to everyone and some are available only to people with low incomes. We may need to ask you about your income. Some of the services we refer you to may charge a fee.
