Family justice counsellors
Families experiencing separation and divorce usually need to work out formal family agreements. Mediation can be helpful for you to maintain a working relationship with your former spouse — something that is particularly important if you have children and want to keep in contact while they are growing up.
Family mediation services are provided at the centre for free for people of modest means. Trained mediators called family justice counsellors can help you reach an agreement or help you get or change a court order for custody, access, guardianship, or support.
If you filed an application in provincial (family) court, and were told to meet with a family justice counsellor to discuss options before you appear in court, this centre is where that meeting takes place. Call first for an appointment.
